Cable Woodchop

Muscle Groups: Obliques

Cable Woodchop focuses on Obliques, with Abs working as supporting muscles.

How to Perform

Follow these step-by-step instructions to perform Cable Woodchop with proper form and technique.

  1. 1

Stand with your side facing a high cable pulley, feet shoulder-width apart, and knees slightly bent.

  2. 2

Grab the cable handle with both hands, extending your arms up and across your body, away from the machine, with your torso slightly rotated towards the machine.

  3. 3

Initiate the movement by pulling the handle downwards and across your body towards your opposite hip.

  4. 4

As you pull, rotate your torso and pivot your feet, keeping your arms mostly straight but not locked.

  5. 5

Finish the movement with the handle near your opposite hip, your torso fully rotated, and your knees still slightly bent.

  6. 6

Slowly reverse the motion, allowing your torso to rotate back and your arms to extend upwards to return to the starting position.
